Or pet? It's time for the annual NIE Pet Photo Contest. Enter your widdle baby sweetums in the pet photo contest and your cherished pet could be on the cover of the November 2009 issue of High Desert Pets AND prominently featured in the 2010 Poster Calendar! All proceeds go directly to schools in the high desert to promote literacy.

Take a clear sharp photo of your pet (No professional photos or camera phone pictures, please. High resolution is needed for calendar).

Or bring the photo, entry fee and entry form to the Daily Press or Desert Dispatch office. (If you do not wish to donate to NIE, please notate on entry form).

Entries will be accepted until July 10th.

VOTE

The first round of voting will be from July 15th to July 31st. The second round of voting will be August 5th through August 21st. The winner will be announced on August 30st.

Vote as many times as you like, votes are only $.50 this year. Don't forget to tell your family and friends to vote. Submit votes by mail, online at highdesertcontest.com, in person at the circulation building of the Daily Press, or at the Desert Dispatch office.

WIN

The pet photo with the most votes at 5pm on August 21st will be declared the winner and will be on the cover of the quarterly magazine, High Desert Pets, and will be prominently featured on the 2010 NIE Pet Poster Calendar. The 11 runner-up pets with the most votes will have their photo on the 2010 NIE Pet Poster Calendar as well.
